Play Association

Play Routes was formed in July 2009 when the very first meeting took place. Those in attendance that day ranged from Development Officers, Voluntary Sector Representatives, Grass Roots workers and people with an interest in play and play development in the region.

The organisation is now a company limited by guarantee and has the following constitutional aims:

  1. To support children and young people’s rights to play in Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire; to contribute to their physical, mental and spiritual well being.
  2. To raise awareness and secure greater recognition of the fundamental importance of play in the growth and development of children in Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
  3. To improve the quality, diversity and accessibility of provision and opportunities for play in Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
  4. To promote co-operation and co-ordination between play providers and to develop and support local play networks in Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
  5. To support and stimulate the training and development of all those involved in play within Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
  6. To contribute to, guide and inform the ongoing development of regional and national play strategies.
